Miss January Dance Marathon Adventure

Hey Everyone!
So every year around late March early April, there is an event held by the UNF Dance Marathon organization benefiting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Jacksonville. The UNF Dance Marathon Committee is comprised and run by all UNF college students, which is amazing!

At the event miracle children and their families are invited to share their story, to raise awareness and contributions, to show that donations to the organization are tremendously helping children in our local northeast Florida hospitals by connecting their donation to a name, face, and story.
The Marathon lasts twelve hours and eight minutes and dancers never sit during this full time to represent a typical nurses shift. And every hour starts with a fun morale dance followed by a Miracle story. Each hour is also themed; this year one hour was filled with childhood games, another was rave themed (it was so fun), and yet another hour was filled with lip sync battles from the dancers – I lip sync battled to Taylor Swift’s song Blank Space with two of the UNF Dance Marathon Committee members!

I, growing up a Miracle child of Children’s Miracle Network, was able to share my story with all the wonderful dancers that came to support the cause! I was able to meet people on an individual basis and we were able to learn about each other. One thing I always love to share when people ask me about myself is that I am Miss January for Original Piece!

I have actually run into a lot of the dancers while at Original Piece! Also, while being out and about around town, I receive many compliments on my Original Piece ensembles! It is SO AMAZING to be a part of two special groups that support amazing causes and believe it’s okay to show that you can be you, be Original, because all of our stories are similar yet original; it shows we can do all this just by helping others! That’s a part of life!
Love your Miss Original January,
Brittney xo 😊
